Cider

Since the mid 1990’s we have been pressing, what many folks call “The best cider I’ve ever tasted!” Each year our focus on pressing high quality apple cider starts when the trees bloom in the spring and continues through harvest and into pressing, blending, and bottling our cider. There are no additives or preservatives, the only ingredient is apples. Over time we have become known for our signature blend of tart and sweet apple varieties.
Morris Orchard Apple Cider can be found at many farm markets, and shops through the area.

We press fresh cider weekly from mid September – December.

  • How do you make your cider so delicious?
  • The secret is good quality tree ripe apples and a blend of apple varieties with great flavors. Every batch contains heirloom varieties with flavors you can’t find in a common apple. It sound simple, but there is a lot of planning and work that goes into making each batch the best that it can be.
  • Is your Cider Pasturized?
  • Our fresh cider is processed with Ultraviolet light, this process is sometimes referred to as “cold pasteurization”. The UV processor uses intense light to provide the same level of safety as heat pasteurization. Ultraviolet processing for cider is a much more energy efficient method, does not change the flavor of the cider and is FDA approved.
  • How Long will it keep?
  • Our cider does not have preservatives, so it must be kept refrigerated to remain fresh. Typically it will keep for 3 weeks in the refrigerator when it has been properly stored.
  • Do you add Sugar or preservatives?
  • No. Our cider is 100% apple, nothing else is added. We simply grind up the apples, and squeeze out the juice.
  • Doesn’t cider have alcohol?
  • Our fresh pressed cider does not have alcohol. To most of the world the word Cider refers to an alcoholic beverage, and what we produce would be called juice. In the United States the terminologies got a little mixed up thanks to prohibition.
  • Will it Ferment?
  • Yes, if you prefer your fresh cider to get a little “sparkle” it will ferment given time. It is also works great if you are interested in a homemade “hard” cider.

We wholesale cider in gallon and half-gallon jugs. It has no preservatives so it must be kept refrigerated. We can also sell cider in customer supplied bulk containers for wineries. If you are interested contact us for more information.
